I believe that Evander Holyfield is a better boxer than Mike Tyson. But i was not alive to watch either. Who was better? Why?

Holyfield is the better ‘boxer’ whereas Tyson was the better ‘puncher’ and bigger character. Holyfield was the good guy in those fights, Tyson was the heel! 

When Holyfield head butted Tyson, blowing up his eye, to which Tyson responded by biting Evander’s ear off, that was what it was all about! Boxer the technician vs the savage beast!

Tyson was scarier. He was more dominant at any single stage in one another’s career. But Evander was more consistently in his greatness and dominated his two fights with Tyson. Evander is the greater champion while Tyson achieved a short lived pop culture icon status that Holyfield never approached.
