The NFC East is wide open, and especially with their tie the Eagles have a great chance of still making the playoffs. If they dont, then they’ll easily get a top 5-top 10 draft pick and they’ll be in better shape to draft someone to help Hurts for next year. Carson Wentz isnt getting better. We've seen that. The eagles certantly haven't helped him but Hurts is young, spry, and not scared of how bad the eagles offense is. He isn't pissed off of how poor the eagles have done with this offense. Carson doesn't have the will to play well anymore because Philly will not help him. Jalen is more eager to play, younger, not as injury prone as far as we know, overall it would be a better idea to start Jalen to see what he can do and know where you move forward from here.

To start off, Philly drafts Jalen in the 2nd round. Why would they take him so early in the draft to use him in a Taysom Hill type roll? Carson has been sacked the most in the league this season. Is it all on him?, no it’s not, but playing a player who’s much more versatile will help. Jalen is much more versatile on his feet like I just said. Jalen would bring a spark of energy to a struggling team at the right time. Starting Jalen would allow Philly to open the playbook more. Not to mention it’s the NFC East. It’s not like a tough division like the AFC North or NFC West. Philly could still sneak into a playoff spot. Wentz is getting up there in his late 20s soon to be early 30s. What has Wentz showed? Yea he played really good that season before tearing his ACL but it’s not like he won any "big games" in his career. You can make the argument the only reason Philly won a SB was because of Foles, and if Wentz was healthy, they would’ve lost.

Wentz isnt to blame 100%. yes he makes mistakes but he has a depleted WR core, terrible O-Line, and bad coaching... I say wait till next year to start Hurts. give Wentz a second chance the rest of the year and see how the rest of the season pans out but till then keep Wentz in. No, Carson should not be benched. He has had an awful year, but there is no point in benching him. He has had one of the worst play callers in the NFL call plays that do not fit how he plays. Carson has too much talent to be playing this bad, and putting Hurts in would diminish any trade value that Wentz could bring if he starts playing better.

Carson Wentz leads the league in interceptions, fumbles, and total times sacked. I don’t believe Jalen will do much better than Wentz but getting him in there for the rest of this season could help him ease into the next week.

The eagles would not be better starting Hurts over Wentz in my opinion. The reason for this is because, the bad play isn't solely on wentz. Wentz is one of, it not the most sacked qb in the league. His oline isn't doing him any favors, but at the same time wentz simply isn't playing well either. But wentz has proven he can be a top 8 qb in this league before. Hurts would be actually worse than wentz, hurts is a rookie. Hurts can't read defenses as well as wentz and he doesn't have as much chemistry with his receivers as wentz does. Keep in mind they are behind the same  oline and hurts isn't as good of a passer as wentz is. THE ONLY aspect that would be better with hurts is that he can move the ball more with his feet, but even that he doesn't do that well with their oline not being good.

Benching Carson Wentz is illogical and here is why. 1. Would it be good for Jalen Hurts to be thrown in this situation. The upcoming schedule for the eagles is very though. And the Eagles are heavily injured and have no offensive playmakers. If Jalen Hurts really is the future should he be asked to go into a situation similar as Joe Burrow. 2. Doug Pederson is at risk at losing his job. The rest of the year should be used on seeing if he will be the coach in upcoming years. Giving him Jalen Hurts will let him have control over the franchise. Doug Pederson has not proven that he is the their future coach this year. And in order to see if he is it would not be right to put a potential future in his hands in Jalen Hurts. 3. This the Eagles chance to save Carson Wentz. It is better this year to try to save Carson Wentz's career. Carson Wentz is seriously regressing and this last stretch of the year should be used to see if he is the franchise QB. This is Wentz's year to prove himself not Hurts's.

Carson Wentz is easily the worst quarterback in the league. Easily. He has the most interceptions and takes the most sacks by wide margins. I’m a WFT fan (I know I know), and we have our own quarterback woes, but watching Wentz play is actually painful to see. The blatantly poor decisions and bad throws are astounding. Everything Wentz is doing in his mechanics, from his hip movement to coverage reading, is just a shell of his former 11-2 self. So really, the case for replacing wentz with Hurts is, what do they have to lose? You literally can’t get worse than what you have now. The Eagles and Doug Pederson need to stop half-assing their leadership in a wide open NFC East and make a move. You can only go up if you replace him.

I believe that Carson Wentz ultimately gives the Eagles the best chance to win right now.  I'm sure that Jalen Hurts would show some upside and possibly give the team a spark, however this kid is a rookie who is still learning and I don't believe is in a good position to succeed right away in this offense that seems to be shambles. The Eagles have not only proven they do not need Carson Wentz to be successful, but they can win a superbowl without him. Not to mention this was in Wentz's sophomore season where he was an MVP front runner. His play has only declined since then. The Eagles are 14-15 with Wentz since he tore his ACL in 2017. For the people that say the Eagles still have a chance in the NFC East, what is the point? Even in the event Wentz can sneak the Eagles in the playoffs they cannot compete with true contenders and will fizzle out like every year. Hurts gives them the opportunity to see what their 2nd round QB has to offer. This way they can better evaluate their situation next year, and see if Wentz's enormous $34,673,536 cap hit is worth it next year (PS it's not).

Carson Wentz clearly isn't working out for the Eagles at this point in time. I would bench him and work Jalen Hurts in to become the starter. If Jalen doesn't work out then Wentz is still there but if Jalen is better then they will thank themselves for starting him earlier when they had a chance to win the NFCE.

Carson Wentz really had no chance to get himself playing on an elite level. The Eagles O-line has basiclly gotten injured to the core, and their defense has not really preformed as expected. Also blame Doug Peterson his decisions during mid game also has affected Wentz since most of the time the Eagles are behind and have to force Wentz to throw the ball. They are lucky that they are playing in the NFC East otherwise they wouldn't still be in playoff contention.

It simply wouldn’t do hurts or the organization any good. As far a Jalen Hurts, playing with a depleted roster and constant pressure won’t benefit him, and there is always the chance of injury. As far as the organization, they still have a chance at playoffs and well I think it would be more beneficial to them to get a higher pick I don’t see them going that direction with the season. Wentz is the more experienced option if they are trying to make a playoff push. Another point would be if they are consider if Wentz is still the franchise QB, give him the rest of the season to prove himself, if he continues to disappoint, it might be time to move on from him.

Clarification: I am not an Eagles Fan.
While I absolutely believe that Carson Wentz is performing horribly this year and worse than he ever has, it is my professional opinion that he is not the problem due to the horrible situation he is in which would create an ineffective qb regardless of who is at qb.
Two things are primarily to blame for Wentz's struggles:
Inexperienced wide receivers:

1.  Inexperience at the wr position is a very difficult problem for Wentz.  Think about it, they've got Travis Fulgham as they're number one wr right now.  Injuries have plagued the Eagles this year but that does not change the fact that they've got a Packers practice squad drop at #1.  Clearly he's doing much better but not enough to earn a #1 spot.  A lack of wr talent also hurts the production of the rest of the offense.  Any smart team just has to single man cover the wrs and then double the tight ends which are above average.  With this they can still stack the box with mlb's and shut down the run game.  All in all, Wentz does not have alot to throw to and that can make it very difficult to succeed.  

2.  Doug Pederson's scheme is not working.  No matter how you slice it, this offense is floundering at best.  Miles Sanders, who Pederson claimed could be a top 5 rb this year, has horrifically underperformed despite his abundance of talent.  This comes back to the scheme.  If you can't use Sanders any better than you can use Boston Scott then you've got a serious problem.  A lack of a running game makes good qb play very difficult for anyone including the best of the best.

While Carson Wentz isn't good nor was he the reason the Eagles were good in 2017, Doug Pederson needs to leave and the GM needs to invest in better and more reliable wide receivers.  The defense is actually playing very well, even gaining the respect of Aaron Rodgers.  If that offense was used intelligently and with tact, it could easily resemble the eagles of the past couple of years which would also see a revival of good Carson Wentz, who wasn't amazing but was still good.

We’ve definitely seen that the eagles need a change. Their record alone shows that. I believe that with how schedules line up the eagles won’t win the division. It’s possible, but will be very hard to do. They need to regroup and try something new. It’s obviously not working the way it is. Just give the kid a chance, he might be the answer. The supporting cast is not terrible by any means and Carson has made some bad mistakes this year. They might as well try something. It’s worth a shot!

A lack luster offensive line has forced Wentz to not only get hit but rattled. Play Hurts as a trial, at this point the season is almost shot considering the scheduling and the current state of the team. Having already -34 mil in cap set up for this offseason Howie Roseman needs to look long and hard at every part of this team, including Wentz and Doug Pederson. Hurts game does translate to a lot of what Pederson has wanted to do, read options, rolling out of the pocket, and taking down field shots(that have been open) Wentz’s confidence is shot and is playing timid. Put Hurts in to either A push the offense forward or to light a fire underneath Wentz either way it is best at this point for hurts to come in.

Jalen Hurts looks really solid when they take him off the bench, however if they let Jalen sit behind Carson for a few more years, he could learn a lot, and it would be like the Favre-Rodgers situation. Its not all Carson's fault. They have a lot of injured guys. and the O-line sucks. Their division is wide open, so I wouldn't start Jalen yet. Maybe if it's clear they're out of the race, I would start Jalen. Because they would have nothing to lose.

Either way it goes they both would do mediocre because of the o line and because of the receivers not able to get separation

Carson Wentz was drafted SECOND overall in the 2016 draft. Since then he has been turnover prone and riddled with injuries. Philly has had one good year (they won the Super Bowl) but in that year Wentz got injured and Nick Foles took over. Foles was able to lead the Eagles to the Super Bowl and win it, showing that the Eagles are a very capable team but terrible play at the QB position has led them to several consecutive mediocre seasons.

If you look at Carson Wentz's production, he is hurting his team more than helping. I'm not saying Jalen Hurts would be a magical fix but its worth the try.  I see people having so much hope in Carson since his MVP like season that ended in a ACL tear in 2018. Sometimes an injury can ruin your whole career. I don't think he still has that MVP caliber play, or anything close to that. The Eagles should exhaust every option if they want to make the playoffs this year.

I think Carson Wentz is not having the best of year but he still has talent he's a veteran QB and when he is not doesn't have pressure in his face all day. The Eagles would be better off putting Wentz in a have Hurts come in time to time, but I do think the Eagles need to give Hurts the ball more he has the potential to do great things on the field.

The Eagles have no reason to put Jalen Hurts in. Because they aren't a good enough team to make a serious run in the playoffs, getting in only hurts their draft capital. If you're the Eagles, you might also be able to get something nice for Carson Wentz during the offseason. The only way this happens though is if he plays good football. Sitting on the bench doesn't give him any value. 

Also, we saw what happened to Joe Burrow. Carson Wentz is by far the most sacked QB in the league right now with 46 on the season (R. Wilson is in 2nd with 35). It makes no sense to throw Jalen back there just so he can get slammed around and hurt like Burrow did. 

Keep Carson around until that O-Line gets better. Maybe try Hurts out later this season against a team with a dismal pass rush (I think the week 16 game against the Cowboys would be a perfect opportunity for Jalen to get his feet wet).

As much as we want to see Jalen hurts start. We have to understand that Carson wentz can’t do everything, yes there are games he messes up but you got also put in the coaching, O-line, injuries have effected Carson Wentz more than any other quarterback. I say give him one more year and if it doesn’t work out then it’s time to move on from him.

I’ve been a defender of Wentz the past 2 seasons, where he played rather mediocre, but he and his team were riddled with injuries. I figured that if the team could start a season healthy, he could finally flourish again. Albeit, this year the Eagles have still struggled with injuries, but nothing can excuse the awful performances from the quarterback. With a league lead of 15 INTs as well as a measly 49.6 QBR (27th among starters) and a 58% completion percentage, it’s clear that he does not work in Philadelphia. 
Now, the Eagles sit in 3rd place in the NFC East, behind the 4-7 Giants and Football Team, it would take a late season surge, including defeating both teams in their next meetings, to retake the division lead. It’s clear through Wentz’s play this year that he isn’t capable of making such a run. 
I’m no believer in Jalen Hurts, but you draft a guy to play him at some point, right? And when the system right now is failing, it’s the perfect time to see what he can do, where even if you do make the postseason, you’re a one off team. Figure out what the guy can do while the window is open.

Doug Pederson is fighting for his job at this point. Carson Wentz has struggled mightily this season, and regressed heavily from even last year. Why not try out Jalen Hurts and see what you have in him? You clearly thought that Hurts was talented enough, because you spent a second round pick on him, which is a pretty high draft pick. At least give him a chance. See what he’s got. You’re season isn’t going anywhere, so it’s not like you were going to win anything significant this year and regress mightily as a team if you put in Hurts for Wentz. At this point, you have to protect your future and see what you have in your second round draft pick from this year. You have to see what Hurts is made of. Who knows, maybe you’ll get a couple significant and unexpected wins to end the year.

ABSOLUTELY NOT. Wentz is far from the only problem on the team, and throwing a brand new qb into a broken system is just more likely to ruin the new guy. If Hurts sees the field, it needs to be apart of a good game plan, not some shot in the dark just to see if something sticks. What the eagles really need to do is get their play-style corrected and improve the performance of the starters on the field. We saw what happened when Joe burrow was thrown behind an aweful O-line -- nobody wants to see that happen to another first year qb.

If you are thinking long term, yes!  Carson Wentz has proven talent, but has been at the hands of 10 (most in the league) offensive line ups this year.  Until you can provide the adequate protection, why not try out Jalen, he has more mobility, which is a plus when your O line is playing injury catch up and lacking in experience and talent.  The number of hits and sacks alone Wentz endures each game has played a toll physically and mentally, I know that's what these guys get paid for, I get it, he is injury prone we have seen that, what's next, career ending?

Carson wentz is a shell of himself. He has gone from 2017 frontrunner for mvp to now one of the worst starting quarterbacks in the NFL he has the highest off target passes rate in the NFL. Hurts was an absolute stud in college and clearly the playcalling and system the eagles have right now just doesn't fit wentz. With hurts in you can much easily open up the run game with sanders and the playroom can open up a lot more with his mobility. The eagles have looked awful all season and have now topped it off with a humiliating prime time performance. Wentz is garbage he isn't the answer.

It depends on how you define "better off" as. Yes, we all know Carson Wentz isn't working currently. Whether it is him and his mechanics, the coaching, the situation around him, the Eagles aren't playing good football and Carson Wentz isn't exactly happening. Jalen Hurts is an intriguing football player, based on his skill set and what we've seen from his years in college. None of us truly will know how good Hurts is, until we've seen him for a full season under the helm. However, sending the message to your 128 million dollar quarterback that you are no longer the guy to win the division that's open for taking, isn't the "better" thing to do as a Franchise. There was a reason this guy was the #2 overall pick, and a top 10 QB in the league in many experts' eyes. Rather than causing further internal disruption, get a head coach that can develop Wentz, and surround himself with a team that can allow him to win games and develop your franchise.

Carson Wentz is not doing any favors for the Eagles. The Eagles have a chance to make the playoffs in the worst division ever, but they’re never going to do that with Carson Wentz. He had one good year. It is time to give someone else a chance and maybe they’ll make the playoffs. Right now my bet is still on the Washington Football Team though. Weather the eagles want the best chance to win or if they want to see what they have with a 2nd round pick putting jalen hurts is better. 

I understand that the eagles have many problems from offensive line continuity, coaching, lack of talent, etc. but Carson Wentz is not helping and I think maybe changing the offense a bit and putting Hurts in might help. Having a more running offensive will help the wide receiver issue because they will have less to do. The running back might be more productive with Hurts and sanders/Scott running. Help the offensive line by not having to drop back to throw consistently. It is also new and there is no film on it, so I think it will also give them a chance to win more. It’s now December and Wentz is not getting better and Peterson is not doing anything from a scheme perspective to help. Maybe just something different can help the team both players and coaches. Different can always give the *opportunity to be better*

There’s no hope in the Eagles to win the division, even though all the other teams suck, but the Washington Football Team is heating up at the right time with Alex Smith. I've been going to bat for Carson Wentz for years. I'm done. 
     Granted, his situation is awful. He is forced to hold on the the ball for longer because his receivers can't get separation. This coupled with a shoddy o-line means he has to take a lot of sacks and force a pot of throws. I'm not expecting greatness out of Wentz this year. 
     But he's just looked bad. He's routinely missing receivers and making bad decisions. I honestly believe the Eagles would have won with most other QBs in the pocket last Sunday. 
     The next few weeks are garbage time for the Eagles. They're not far back in the division, but strength of schedule and lack of talent make them a long shot. These are incredibly valuable snaps agaisnt starting NFL defenses for you to get a good assessment of the rookie. Give him a shot, see what you have. Assess if you need to make more QB moves this offseason.

I would bench him and give Hurts a shot. It seems like the recievers have given up on him.They seem to have no interest on running routes at 100%. Give Hurts a shot maybe he can spark something with the recievers and with his mobility could escape with his legs. Maybe that is what the team needs a fresh face in the huddle. They wont know that till they try something. They drafted Hurts as an insurance so use it because they need to.

They definitely drafted Hurts in the first round for a reason. They must have been thinking that Wentz's time behind center for the eagles  was nearing the end with all his injuries and lack of reliability and Eagles struggling in the record column and that Hurts had something to offer. Anything changed? So far this season they are 3-7-1. Normally a HC might have made the change by now, but they play in the NFC East and are only a half game out of division lead.

I saw Ryan Clark on ESPN earlier this week say that if the Eagles went to Hurts, it would give off the impression that they are giving up on the season. I couldn’t disagree more, as the Eagles are having an unimaginably horrific season with Wentz under center. I think putting in Hurts, who is still looking to prove himself in the league and hasn’t earned his guaranteed check unlike Wentz, would be more beneficial for the team. Philly fans are still going to be disagisfied with Wentz even if they make the playoffs with him. I think turning to Hurts is the only option and its a low risk/high reward situation.

Multiple bad plays against a winnable Seahawks defense, with hurts he brings a different type of approach with the ability to move out of the pocket and have the ability to run. As Wentz has proved all the media outlets for considering him a “good QB” wrong we can definitely expect hurts to start in the up coming week(s).

Wentz can't run Pederson's offense well at all because of his hero ball playstyle, so I think Hurts would at least try to stick with the gameplan and move the ball more efficiently.

I don’t necessarily believe that Wentz is the entire problem, because of the dwindling o-line and wideout corps. However, when you have a lot of pass rush in your face, you want a quarterback who can make moves outside the pocket. Wentz isn’t bad in open space, but Hurts may be able to combat the heavy pressure from his opponents.

I don think Hurts would be much better than Wentz but they might as well try him out. They picked him in the the 2nd round and Wentz has played terribly. If the Eagles end up winning the NFC East, it's very unlikely they'll win a a playoff game with Wentz so pretty much all winning the division would do for them is screw themselves out of getting a good draft pick. If Hurts starts, it's possible he'll actually do really well and he might get the Eagles a playoff win. If he sucks, then the Eagles will still get a good draft pick. It's kind of a win-win situation if they start Hurts.

The Eagles would be better off starting Jalen Hurts the rest of the way for several reasons. The first being the decimated offensive line. Carson Wentz still has some mobility, but is on pace to be sacked 65 times which is close to an NFL Record. Jalen Hurts, despite the lack of experience, can offer more mobility to create chances to extend plays and give the Eagles poor WRs more time to get open. I also think Jalen Hurts should start the rest of the season because Carson Wentz has continually struggled and it won’t get any better with their tough remaining schedule. Giving Hurts the chance to play will not only provide a much needed spark to the entire team, but it will allow Wentz to take a backseat and reasses some of his mechanical and mental struggles this season.

I say yes because Wentz is struggling and it cant get much worse than it is now. They  used a 2nd overall pick on Jalen Hurts. If they dont play him it was a complete waste of a draft pick. Hurts cam help the Eagles as well. Jalen Hurts can run the football. Je is very mobile. He wont stand in the pocket like Wentz does. As a result he wont get sacked as much as Wentz does. He will be able to turn them plays into gains unlike Wentz.

Yes. This isn’t about winning the NFC East as clearly Carson Wentz isn’t the present or future. The Eagles need to see what they have in Harlem Hurts before the draft because they WILL have a borderline top 5 pick. With this loaded QB class, they need to see if they should draft a QB like Wilson or Lance. QB is the most important position and until they know they have one, things won’t get better.

Me being a Washington Football Team Fan I don't like the Eagles but if they are going to score more points on offence I think they need to start Jalen Hurts. Jalen is so dynamic on running the ball and Carson Wentz is not playing his game right now and During that Seahawks game If the Eagles started Jalen Hurts I think they would win because there defense has been good through out the whole season.
