DEBATE OF THE DAY: What is the number one problem with the Seahawks?

They are one of the worst defenses in the league. they give up a bunch of 1st round picks for Jamal Adams  who improve their defense a little bit. their pass rush is bad. they dealing with injuries.  they are 23rd rank defense in the league. the seahawks is pretty much Bobby Wagner and Jamal Adams. the cornerbacks is average, their defense are cost them games like the giants game.

I am a Seahawks fan. I believe it is coaching. Our offense was great in September. It will get fixed for the playoffs. Our defense is playing like a top 10 defense right now. The coaching has been questionable. Playcalling is predicable. We run power runs and play action out of it every time

They have a good team on both sides of the ball, notice i said good and not next level great. They can win any game they play, and i would not bet against them on any given Sunday

You can’t fight the fact that Wilson is on top of his game right now. It might not be always but it’s definitely a lot of the time. This giants game was on the defense. How can you give up that many points to a backup QB on a team that has 4 wins. They’ve made many great improvements, like adding Carlos Dunlap. But the defense just isn’t ready for this yet. I’m still pretty confident that they’ll still make the playoffs pretty easily, but making a run seems like a different story. It’s not over for the Seahawks, but it’s not gonna be as easy for them as we thought.

You have weapons on offense that was prolific in weeks past. You have a defense that, outside of the cornerback position and thanks to a solid front 7, takes care of business. The issue is coaching. We’re getting out schemed, out maneuvered, and outplayed. We have the athletes to make it work, but inferior defenses are holding us back and our defense is like Swiss cheese once you get past the linebacker position. The issue is that teams have us figured out and we haven’t found a way to broaden the scope enough to make us unpredictable.

WHERE IS THE OFFENSE?!?!?! They are amazingly INCONSISTENT week to week. Week 9, Josh Allen was the better QB. Week 10 Jared Goff was the better QB. Yesterday, Colt McCoy was the better QB.  What’s the philosophy behind Russ always running the play-clock down to one? Doesn’t that give the defense an advantage? Maybe Russ should spend less time on his podcast, and more time on his accuracy, and avoiding the sack. And I said it last week.  I’ll say it again- Yesterday was not Schotty’s crowning achievement. And Chris Carson was bad, which I think is a first. Best player on the Hawks yesterday? Michael Dickson. That’s bad.

The offense was a major problem yesterday. 

They've shown they can win with a subpar defensive performance, but if Russ isn't at his best, then they're in trouble.

Look at the Wins ... they were not blow out wins, they barley won with help from Russell Wilson  and his arm !!  A league MVP.  The defense can’t stop anything!!!

The Seahawks started 2020 with one of the most exciting and electric offenses in the NFL. Since week 5 the Seahawks have gone from dynamic to vanilla and exploitable. Through the first 5 games we had 4 total turnovers, through the next 7 games we have had 12 - meaning our turnover rate has more than doubled. 

The rest of the statistics you will see are comparisons of weeks 1-5 vs the next 7 games. Russell's passer rating initially averaged out to 121.3, it has since dropped to 92.7, a 28.6% decrease. Passing TDs per game dropped from 3.8 to 1.8. Yards per attempt have dropped from 8.96 to 7.37. During this same time our rushing numbers have had a statistically insignificant drop in attempts per game, yards per attempt, yards per game, or RTDs per game. 

Defensively, passing yards allowed per game have decreased from 370 to 266. Points allowed have decreased from 27 to 26.5 (still unacceptably high but over the last four weeks this has decreased even further to 19.5 points per game)

The defensive coordinators of the opponents have had a better scheme/plan then our offensive coordinators has and adjustments during the game isn't working.

Seahawks  can score, coaching staff is good, what does that leave? Right, defense. They are 22nd in the league, having given up 321 points! Simple answer, tougher fix for playoffs and matchups.

The offensive line has become an issue once again. Russ just doesn’t look the same as he did earlier in the year....has he taken too many hits? Have other teams adjusted?

The defense has been playing really good the last couple weeks so I dont think that is really the issue. The issue i see is that their oline is injured and struggling to stop people from sacking Wilson. I also think the receivers need to do a better job of getting open since like the last 3 years Lockett has been open most plays but this year he is struggling to get open. If they can fix their oline and get the receivers open by either scheming or just being better than the opponent I think they are fine
