I think they’ll be fine and at the end of the day no other is close enough to threaten them seriously. So they have time to get their issues fixed

Yes, have you seen the reports of GM and Ford quality from the 80's and 90's? There is a great case study I read a while back on why Toyota took over in the 90's. In short GM and Ford worried more about producing quickly and fixing issues after the cars were made. Toyota would stop the whole assembly line if am single screw was not istalled to standard.  They also did the Just in time manufacturing  principles and employee empowerment. Although to me their quality has diminished as of late..and fords ha s picked up. I drive a ford after all ;)
