Should schools extend schedules until 6pm to help parents?

Yes - keep kids in school and supervised until parents can get them.

This is idiotic, this is the problem with politicians, left and right.. a one shoe fits all is not the answer.. not all families have the same working hours, so it wouldn't even matter if you worked 9-5, what if I worked 4am to 2pm do I get to pick up my kids early?  is this after school programs and school ends at 3pm?  trust me I have 3 kids and I would love the help of the school watching my kids for an extra 3 hours, but thats a problem in itself..if most parents work from 9-5 and then get dinner and or sports and or whatever, where is the quality time you are making for your kids! I have a 5 year old, 3 year old and 7 month old.  I would love if the school opend up at 5am so I could take all three of my kids so I could go back to sleep before I have to go to work.. but that's the problem the Sacrifice and Grind should be coming from the parents not the school.. I wake up at 4am with my 7month old because my wifes goes to work at that time, It's just what you do as parents.. Help is always welcomed from family friends and what not, but putting something like this into law is ridiculous.

Seems pretty crazy just to do to be covienient for some. I'd also like say this is not a family friendly option, its a Convince Option (which doesn't even work for everyone).

Schools are not baby sitters.  This idea is nearly the most expensive solution to a babysitting problem I've ever heard.
