Skip & Shannon discuss if LeBron's role in social activism makes him the GOAT | NBA | UNDISPUTED

Does LeBron's role in social activism make him the GOAT?

Undisputed

Definitely not! Sorry but this is just ridiculous. Funny how he didn't stand for the rights of others when it affected his pocketbook in China!

he does his thing on the court and off. By him being a good role model, as a athlete he can reach more people so the social media from him helps.

When we are talking about the GOAT in basketball we are talking about exactly that Basketball. Ones involvement with external social issues have nothing to do with the game on the court.

Albert Long

LeBron got exposed as a phony when he kowtowed to China. It's easy to speak out when you don't face any real consequences for doing so.

Bron is the GOAT at sports activist, not moving MJ aside because GOAT to me is playing, not who participated in social issues.

Bob Rauch

did we already forget about Kaepernick???

MaryBeth Zmuda

GOAT Is about performance, isn’t it? When you compare LJ playing career to Mj, we can debate how both men’s game defined their career, and while Jordan was always silent, LeBron chooses to speak up for what he believes. Does MJ being the better player, but less activist, mean LBJ is now the GOAT due to his game + activism?

MJ still the GOAT.

Being the GOAT in a sport to me is different the being an activist. I don't judge them on the same standards.

What does social activism have to do with playing basketball. If so, let’s through MLK in the GOAT mix.

Frank Rogozienski

I think lentils social presence is an example for other athletes to follow, but it’s not a reflection of his talent and should not be taken into consideration for his status as the GOAT

Jake Hershfield

Still has to get another ring! Lead 3 teams to the chip + own most of the records, and he can still be assistant to the regional manager!

Anthony Avila

Lebron's activism and community service, particularly his focus on education and serving at youth risk in Ohio and LA, should be applauded. But Kareem's got more rings, better overall statistics to date, and has been active in working to build social awareness, hold folks accountable, and offer correctives and solutions to various forms of racial and social injustices since the late 60s. They both are great role models and should be applauded.

Christopher Moreno

The GOAT would be referencing in his sport and his sport only. This should not impact his place in the sport - unless, what he stood up for was issues that drove change within his sport.

Jason Finley

The school he helped create is amazing, his posts on social media are great too! But how do we measure his impact on social issues? Do his posts reach people that can make an impact? What has changed? We don't know yet

Gustavo

Doesn’t have anything to do with being the goat.

Neil Umscheid Jr.

We are talking about on the court achievements. Some people aren’t built to be out in the spotlight after they’re career is over

Not a chance.....not at all. And arguably, he chooses when he wants to stand up for everything.
