Do you believe it's important for kids to travel when they are young?

I remember when my parents took us to Disneyland, the Rose Bowl, Grand Canyon National Park and many more places. I feel that travel is both experiential and educational. Not to mention helpful to your friendly hotelier!

Travel with parents leads to later travel and appreciation of the arts and history. You can't not want to constantly read more about places and history. Our family has traveled all over Europe and my daughter went to Uni in Wales for 2 years. We had to visit her there too, not a bad thing !!

I think we should be able to send 13 year old kids to Africa for a week. Keep them safe but put them in a hut with no water or electricity make them walk a mile to get a bucket of water to drink and wash with. Make them hunt an hour for dinner. THEN they will truly appreciate what they have here 10 fold.

While I love the concept, unfortunately today's youth won't get up to help wash dishes, and most have never walked or run a mile unless forced to in gym class. If you're 13 and are that far forward thinking, I commend you and there is hope for the future !
