Will Dean Spanos be proven to be the smartest owner in the NFL in 5 years? According to Fred Maas....he will!

Tommy Farace (Like Versace)

He has no fans in his new market, no lineage from his old market, No Stadium to call his own, No respect from other owners, No wisdom on rebranding and thinking you had more fans then you did in LA, And Well NO BALLS to just swallow your pride and turn around and go home! But YES to Smartest owner.. it adds up!

Let’s see what happens in five years. Never judge someone from a book cover, right?

VERIFIED

Dean Spanos was given a fortune by his daddy Alex. Alex was a hard worker and loved his San Diego Chargers. His son has disgraced his legacy all over greed. How many people handed a billion dollars for doing nothing more than being a sperm would fuck over a tradition of 56 years....Dean Spanos that's who. In 10 years or less you will never hear about Dean Spanos again. He is a disgrace to the a NFL to San Diego and to all that is wrong with humanity

Toby McDonald

Fred like his boss is in way over his head! How will a man who got wealthy from his daddy be able to be the "smartest" owner in the NFL when people like Bobby Kraft and Jerry Jones exist?????

Nope. Don't believe ANYTHING you hear from the Chargers, at all! As long as Spanos owns the team, they believe everything is fine. That includes everyone who works for them in the front office (Maas, Fabiani, etc). Don't buy into that narrative!

Mike Krupinski

So this means that Maas is calling the other owners imbeciles. The team moved from the 28th largest market size to the 2nd and only went up in value 11% plus he still doesn't own the stadium, still needs to pay the relocation fees and other loans from the league. If Dean is the smartest owner in 5 years it means that a meteor hit the owners meetings while they sent Spanos out to get them coffee and he's the only one left.

TuRockShow

Wow, someone drank the Koolaid. If by smart you mean primed himself to get more for the team if they sell yes. But if he's in it for the long term sure isn't planning about lasting long.

Derrick McQuinn

Fred Maas, whoever he is, has a better chance of being the smartest owner in the NFL in 5 years.

Stu Schreiber

How can anyone in their right mind even fathom the possibility of this current situation getting any better?
*Never judge a book from it's cover.
This book is ripped to shreds and has blacked out teeth and a cartoon penis painted with sharpie on the forehead of Spanos on the cover.

We judge bro because of who owns the team..... talk to me next year when you see all those empty seats at SoFi.

We are not judging by the book cover, we are over half way through the book and it's not looking to good!

Spanos is more like the Fords in Detroit and the Haslams in Cleveland. You have the keys to the Porsche, you really don't want to scratch it, so you take it out only on 'joy rides' and never put the pedal down to see how this baby drives.....

Looks like this: NFL loan ($300M), relocation fee ($650M), and any additional outside funds, and a stadium in SD could have been built. But Spanos was out harvesting coffee beans instead of listening to SD fans and faithful.

The funny thing is Maas is totally not thinking of his future after Spanos. You know whenever Spanos sells theres no way the new owner is going to keep any of those people.

I agree Spanos won't last beyond the time he can legally sell the team, which amounts to a couple more seasons.
