I will literally cry like a bitch 😪😪😪

All good memories need to end. Lets turn a new page!

Tommy Farace (Like Versace)

Loved the Q. Ueah was old but that stadium and tailgating was amazing for several decades. Fuck Dean Spanos

The place was(is) falling down, And every bathroom visit requires a hazmat suit, but I’ll never forget the deafening roar standing in the tunnel waiting for Trevor to close out the Braves in ‘98, being in the front row when the Stones finished their concert in a driving rainstorm, and having a rookie qb named Brees throwing a football thru a moving van on live tv. It’s time to move on but I will miss the place.

Paul Rudy

Countless memories and I’ll be bummed but it’s time... the Murph has to go.

Joe Rigby

A lot of good memories but no it’s time for it to go and what’s coming will be good for our community, just like how everything has built up around UCSD

Derrick McQuinn

I mean yes we all had wonderful memories there. I think for me it reminds me of my grandpa and his love for Tony Gwynn. But it’s an old, run down stadium. Time to move on.

I've never been there but I'm sure it will be missed.

Pawpaw

Absolutely. First MLB, NFL, and NCAA football game.

I don't see a real replacement and still believe the city could save it and save dollars. But I will not cry!

Ever since I was a kid I haven't really liked Jack Murphy stadium. Having seen other stadiums and other ballparks it is possible to put on an event with lots of people that is actually comfortable and well-maintained. The problem with Qualcomm was that it was always an average stadium but then once they stopped maintaining it, things got a lot worse. my worst frustrations with Qualcomm was always the parking lot hell and trying to get out.

Michael Johnson

It will be a bitter sweet day. So many great memories were created at that stadium however, it is time for that stadium to go!

Bubba

I went to the ground breaking and sat on a hill, and whoever was speaking pointed to the hill I was on and said, 'we're taking that hill and making a mound right here" and then pushed a plunger and a big plume of dirt went up in the air. I remember hearing the pile drivers putting in the footings, which had to go something like 300 feet to find bedrock. That was daily for almost a year. I went to the first Charger game there; an exhibition with the Detroit Lions where the Chargers were embarrassingly bad- like a 50- something loss. But the merger still looked like a good idea. I test drove a lot of cars and one or two girlfriends in the parking lot.
And lots more. That building brought 'major league' to San Diego, and it's going to be a while before something else gets created that does that to elevate the community again.
And while there are a lot of great memories to that building, there is much more for the acreage to contribute going forward. All the things that make that spot the middle of the coastal community are reasons to change what is going on there.

I went there as a kid with my father to watch Air Coryell and Dan Fouts score all over other teams! The padres amazing run in '84! The toughest thing might be so many great tailgating experiences with my family and friends. New friends you met while at games since you shared the same stupid love for the lightning bolt. The murph will be missed!

Scott Danshaw

So many memories there having nothing to do with why we were there in the first place.

Mike McMann

I hear you but doesn't mean it won't be sad

Like what a b league college stadium. I get it but the Q was legendary if you won't be sentimental you n obviously didn't care about th decades of history in that stadium good and bad

Rebecca Hines

Because that stadium is horrible im ready for something new and high tech...

Nobody is disagreeing that. Doesn't mean it wont bring up emotions when it's blown up into dirt.ots of history in that landmark

I feel you Paul. Yes obviously a dump but will be a sad day for me to watch go down. Its a SD landmark. i was there literally 42 years with family and friends. Those play offs and world series for the Padres were insanely loud. Chargers Marty years were incredible. City and Spanos both were idiots. Can't forget about the Superbowls there and Holiday Bowls. RIP

If there were doing a implosion or something I would love to be there and for sure would have some emotions. Though easier not to be.

You ate 100% right that stadium is a pile of shit. That being said it's still a SD landmark and if you were there to literally watch it be demolished like the trade centers would you not feel some emotions? That cement shit pile gave me and my family and friends some of the best memories of my life. So while I know it needs to go doesnt mean it won't be sad to see.

Definitely sad! I have a lot of personal memories. My first “road trip” was down to the stadium when I was 17. Life goes on!

I hear you I know it needs to go. Not saying that. But watching that landmark be demolished will be sad to see for me
