Will a new Aztec Stadium, River Park, Sports Arena, and SD Loyal stadium make up for the loss of the Chargers/NFL in SD?

Toby McDonald

Not even close it just puts a nail in the coffin that San Diego is a minor league sports town. I wouldnt blame the Padres for wanting to move.

Congrats to the politicians that got paid off

I just wish San Diego could get on the ball like these other cities and build a stadium

VERIFIED

The loss of an NFL team is huge. The void of the absence of the NFL in San Diego will last for at least a decade. College football and soccer will help but San Diego political leaders have embraced being a "minor league" sports town. Opportunities to make the city known worldwide as a Sports destination are gone.

Economically, yes. Replacing NFL Football pride, no.

The best thing we can do is move on. Make the best of what we have and support our local teams. Chargers (Spanos) need to know San Diego will continue to thrive without them.

Albert Long

Aztec football like SD sports is jv College football, no loyalty and fan ship. it will never be a UCLA, usc, notre dame etc... so it cant replace a loyalty and fandom like Pro football.. nothing will change until the nfl comes back .

Charges loss is a permanent scar on shut football fan in SD. Younger generations will accept loss of football more readily. I think a rebrand would have helped.

Won’t get us Super Bowls and do much for the local economy

Like the idea of a new sports arena new college field SDSU loyal field but it will never make up for the impact of a loss of an NFL team
