If the government forces a small business to shut down should there be state and/or federal funding to keep those businesses afloat?

Obviously as a small business owner I think there should be something in place. Ive never been a big proponent of wanting the government to take care of me but at the same time forcing a lot of us out of business without any financial help is brutal. I personally got screwed out of the SBA covid relief programs and still have not received the $1200 personal stimulus check

Yes probably should considering your forcing it and not giving any conditions to be open. At the same time no way that’s going to happen

You can make a strong case that with the statistics showing the death rate and/or serious complications from COVID being as low as it is for the vast majority of the populace, the government forcing businesses to close and not offering them adequate assistance is basically tyranny

There absolutely needs to be more political will in DC to adapt accordingly and help out small businesses as these uncertain times continue to unfold. I am baffled why your family hasn't received your assistance check yet or RWT any PPP assistance. Perhaps  it is time to go public with your circumstances with the local/national media and your elected leaders. Wishing you and your family all the best Toby.

I do not think the whole situation went as planned the last time around but hopefully there will be some support this time around.  I do not think anyone should be making any more than they were before, i think that almost created a bigger problem for companies to come back.

Absolutely and should offer some support to small businesses deemed “essential” but restrictions... keeping businesses open with strict restrictions also “chokes” them too

No worries, I run a small business, have a wife and two young kids largely dependent on our business revenues, and understand to some extent the circumstances and frustrations that you are expressing. I used to sell and drive tourists off cruise ships on historic and environmental tours in Skagway Alaska many years ago. The tourism industry there is seasonal and is getting killed this year. My friends still in that industry are all spiraling, trying to salvage what they can, and adapting their bus strategies. Hang in there man.
