Guys night Lab (Jesus)

My son, a life long Pads fan, was barking at me today, that this shortened season is how the a Padres are going to be able to compete. The theory is they can keep up for 60 games, but not all 162! For me, I will have to see this team and organization win, to believe it can.

I love the optimism that a new season breads in baseball, especially when thinking about how this unique and unprecedented season has the potential to play out. Every team has a shot at making the playoffs. There are only 60 games, so anything is possible. Even for the San Diego Padres. Remember, even before the coronavirus ended spring training midway through and delayed the start of the regular season, Padres ownership and management sold the fanbase on the notion that this was supposed to be a pivot year. A season where Padres youth and experience came together and made a difference in the win column at the major league level. This was supposed to be the first year since 2006 that the Padres made the playoffs. Coming into this season there were two main areas of intrigue - do they have enough starting pitching and what influence would a Tingler managed team have to stay close with the Dodgers. Now with only three weeks to prepare and 60 games to play, the emphasis now resides with the quality of their bullpen. The Padres have one of the best pens in the MLB and therefore have as good a shot as any.

Someone is going to win the world series that no one would see coming.

I've felt good about this team since I saw them in spring training. This is the first of many big years for the Padres!

Such a Padre and SD thing to do. I’ll take it.

Hoping for the best but just need big time improvement. I think our Padres are gonna make some noise! I’m all in.

Completely possible and would make sense.

40-1. It was 50-1 two days ago. The oddsmakers are starting to see the Padres

It would be so "San Diego" for us to win this year when most people are discrediting this season as a whole.

I hope they win, because you know in 10 -15 years a movie will be made about this season and the winner, and I would love my Padres to bring us a championship and go down in History!!!

Deffinatley well worth putting some money down.

really def going to put a bet in with those odds

I hope we can lock up this talent and have a nice run of playoff years

I'm there with you, but like your son, I have drunk the cool aid for so many years that at the beginning of every season I forget that it usually ends up making me puke by mid season.

Can this be the padres year.
