At this point we having been working our asses off with our kids with all this virtual learning. We will grind it out the next month or so. Kids need their summer vacation just like the parents do. If there are kids that are deemed behind they could develop a summer session virtually to target specific deficiencies before fall.

Not so much about falling behind (I have 3 girls in school and we’re all managing well- so far) but feel horrible for the graduating classes... maybe let them go back to just finish their finals, and graduation/promotions. The rest can resume in the fall.

The 20-21 K-12 school year should begin in early summer. Kids will receive an academic mulligan for this current grade year, if you will. There’s a lot of missed time that will need to be made up by students.

Speaking from here in California you might as well wait at this point. Anyways with teachers union here never going to happen (don't get me wrong I know theres a lot of good teachers out there, but also a lot of bad ones too).

Kids would not handle well going back and for some, where they are in the school year they are essentially done with the year anyway. Only reason to go back now would be to allow them to do all of the end of the year activities.

Kids need to get back to school. Parents need to have an extra break. Teachers need a raise. (Don't mean me. I mean K-12 teachers)

When it is safe, well more so know that we have a plan. I work at a high school and I honestly believe we can be back for the new school year in August. It’s a must for the economy to start crawling out of the hole that was dug and all many of us thrown into. Once the parents can start going back to work they are going to need childcare and for k-12 that means sending your kids to school. This absolutely must happen in order for our country to see any glimmer of daylight representing even the slightest nuance of normal.

Most have been doing online schooling might as well roll into fall then hopefully start it back like it was before

I'd just say start earlier (maybe a month or something then the normal start time). Also, I don't necessarily agree with the mulligan thats just passing the buck.

Good point! The only real way is through testing, which teachers hate. I was just talking about the day to day grind of it all. I taught high school one year and will never do it again!

I agree with Teachers needing a raise, I know a lot of good ones and there definitely underpaid. However i also believe there needs to be a better way of reviewing/grading teachers. Just like every other business/place of work.
