Assault rifles need to be banned in the United States.

I'm for some maximum number of rounds per automatic weapon. I'm for more background checks, less guns with over 10 rounds per and very pro law enforcement. All U.S. citizens that are mentally stable have a right to bear arms

I support people owning firearms but we need a serious reckoning on what's available to the public.

These discussions are often difficult because gun guy feels as though I should be able to build a gun blindfolded before commenting.

I meant to press no that's against 2nd amendment

No it's just morons that get their hands on them

They aren't a tool. They are weapon that was specifically intended for killing in mass numbers for military combat. The banning of assault rifles is not an infringement to your rights. Because amendment one says you have a right to life. Life. Period. And assault rifles have been abused and misused to the point that it has infringed upon the 1st amendment. People has died from this domestic terrorism. Children go to school afraid and you wife is wary of the grocery store. You will live without your guns. How many won't with them still available.

There’s no need for Americans to have that level of heavy duty weapon. I’m all for protecting the second amendment, but that level of machinery is simply not necessary for an average American.

I don't trust government to define what an 'assault weapon' is.

I don’t really see why it’s necessary for anyone to have any gun in the first place.

Need to identify people that have depression issues and help them before they turn to violence

Chuck Ault

Changed my mind i agree no reason you need a rifle

Latson

You should need a especially permission for that guns

1996 we had the Port Arthur massacre in Australia.

Weeks later, a conservative Prime Minister introduced gun control.

Since then, we've only had one massacre (a gun crime with more than 4 fatalities).

Elsewhere around the world, there's gun control and nowhere near the massacres the USA has.

I read on the other side the pathetic excuse of "it's the person, not the gun". Well figure this; put a knife, or a bow-n-arrow, or a crowbar in that person's hands - sure they could do a bit of damage, but nowhere near the amount of an automatic weapon.

I am a gun owner, and we need to police ourselves. This is our fault and the fixing the issue needs to lead by gun owners, we will pay the price for the ones that do harm. If it is harder to get guns in future but safer for the population as a whole.....so be it.

Mike

Because you literally cannot give me a good reason of why you need one. Please don’t say second amendment, which was written when wars were fought differently, and it took 5 min to load your musket. Please don’t say home defense unless your a cartel boss who is defending against a swat team.

incorrect you are thinking of the m16 not the AR-15 different weapons. no AR stands for ArmaLight not Assault Rife and Assault Rife has no real definition. The 2nd ammendment gives us citizens the right to bear arms not bear some arms. Yes by the letter of the constitution no drug should be outlawed since it directly has no harm on anyone but the user. and to clarify no there is no distinction since it's hard enough to do this kind of research.

Carter

Good information but AR-15s were used in combat. Assault Rifle is literally in the name. The 2nd amendment says nothing about allowing to own ALL TYPES OF FIRE ARMS. It can easily have restrictions.
By your logic then I can own crystal meth but as long as I don't use it it's not harmful. Then why is it outlawed to pocess?
Lastly I would like you to clarify on your statistic because guns is a vague term. How many assault weapons have saved lives not in the hands of proffesionals. Aka military and police.

ok lot to unpack
1. AR-15's are not used in military combat
2. Assault Rife is not the proper and has never been the proper term
3. banning the owning of weapons is directly infringing on the 2nd ammendment
4. allowing people to own weapons doesn't infringe on the first ammendment at all people can be killed with anything and it's a crime to kill thats all the first ammendment says
5. CDC did a study and found guns save anywhere from 500k to 3m lives each year... gun homicides account for just over 10k deaths

It would seem to be the popular model in murdering all the people.

Whatever each persons issue is we need to try to pay attention to it better.

You sure? Because last week it was "sex addiction" that lead to a needless tragedy.

did my comment not edit for you or something it says no reason you need a rifle

So the Ability to walk in a grocery store and kill 10 people with a rifle isn’t enough? Damn than I don’t what it is.
