Reports have speculated that AJ Preller is looking at candidates he’s familiar with. The first candidate is Ron Washington. The 67-year-old firebrand is all about fundamentals and no non-sense. Something the young Padres could use.

The other candidate we’re hearing about is Jayce Tingler.

Padres fans...what do you think of reports that the new Padres manager may be a guy named Jayce Tingler?

Hire Ron Washington, and if Padres love Tingler this much, give him a position on the staff.

I'm sorry, who? I'm done with hoping this team will ever win anything.

I like it! Better than some old guy retread manager. Young is always better! Tingler deserves a shot!

If they Tingler love him so much this would make the most sense to me and give them a little time to figure out if he really is worth it.Honestly, though the most important thing I see is they need to get someone the platers  respect as well as is willing to kick their ass and change the Attitude that it is acceptable to be average. I don't think Tingler is going to be able to do that right off the bat, but as the bench or other coach he can build that.

They need someone with some pedigree, someone who has proven they can work with and develop young players, and someone who has won before. Why didn't they try and outbid the Angels for Maddon. Why aren't they pursuing the likes of a Girardi, Bochy, Baker, or Scioscia? Preller's future depends on this hire working out and yet, if these reports are true, he feels more inclined to rather find someone he is in line with than someone who can change the culture of the clubhouse and win with the players he has compiled.
