Independent contractors, you knew what you signed up for, maybe they need to make some adjustments, but if it won’t exist and they disappear how does that help anyone. Also don’t want to have to call taxis

They make their own schedule and use their own vehicle to do the work so yes

I think it been benefit them to be considered payroll employees. But the vast majority seem to want to stay 1099, so let them.

The own thier own cars and a lot of them are making payments on it . They pick their own hours to work .

While I don't disagree about the pay (BTW my wife and I both have done uber and my wife lyft and uber), I also never really felt decieved about the pay and once you do a little you realize that unless you have a hybrid or can get longer rides its deffinatley not really worth it (though I never used it as a primary means of work just to make some extra money). So I'll repeat my initial comment, you knew what you signed up for.

Som adjustments? It's a complete rip off of the mass of miserables out there. Lyft especially takes more than half of the fare paid by riders. They hike the prices for the riders in busy times and pay that meager flat mileage rate to drivers. This measure totally misses the point. Rather than force a certain type of employer/employee relationship they should crack down on their financial criminal practices.
