Scott -yes we know he’s brutal, but he’s been playing that way since I can remember. Throw off the back foot for an INT. Sidearm sling derp for incompletion. Immobility leads to a sack with poor OL. Sounds just like my guy Matt Stafford here in the D. Good, serviceable QB with longevity, but no next-level skill to get you a SB ring.

Mike Krupinski

There is a side of me that agrees with your take, but there is a different side of me that believes Philip Rivers has more fight for this team, as well as his career, to make it to a Super Bowl. I don’t believe he is done yet.

Lorenzo Z. Villalobos Jr.

A.J. Smith should have kept his word to Brees on the operating table back on January 5, 2006.."I've always believed that this can be a successful organization, and I believe that the time is now," the quarterback said Friday afternoon, hours before free agency began. "That time is only now if I'm there, I can promise you that. I can't promise you what happens if I'm not there." (The Decatur Daily Sports, March 11, 2006, http://legacy.decaturdaily.com/decaturdaily/sports/060311/brees.shtml)Philip's a good guy, loyal to the bone, competitive and durable as they come, and has been super productive at times, just not when you've needed him to be.

Christopher Moreno

Yes he is, it just clearly not working. If you just watch the interceptions they were just bad, regardless of being in pressure. He's been a really good QB but the fit with the team just isn't there anymore. Don't get me wrong the playing calling in that game was atrocious, but thats nothing new and he used to be able to work around it, but he's just not anymore. Time for them or Him to move on. That being said I think just like peyton manning did,. with the right team I think he could win/be sucessfully.

Derrick McQuinn

Give Rivers an O line with some time and he’ll get it done.

Albert Long

Rivers needs some protection and time. He's great and HOF worthy....get him his RING!!!

no he is not done, but he is done with the Chargers...hopefully he can go get superbowl..with a great team.

Afmir Lopez

He needs to play for a better organization.

Raymond's Opinion

dtrain - agreed. I think we might see a mass exodus of free agents leave the Chargers (Gordon, Bosa, Rivers). That environment, crowd, and ownership combined is leading to a toxic atmosphere.

The truth is Rivers might make the decision for them and move on too.

He can play, but if I were the GM of the Chargers I would be dealing with reality, they need to address the future of the qb position, this franchise is completely dependent in Rivers, and he has yet to elevate to Super Bowl status.

Tommyfarace you and I know that would be the plan, but watch them go after Cam Newton once Carolina cuts him in March lol

krupp2001 If they are gonna move on from Rivers might as well tank the season and try to get a good QB in the 2020 NFL Draft!

Tommy Farace (Like Versace)

....and: having Rivers change teams doe not guarantee better results.... they've talked about Stafford here for years - 'his skill set would improve in a different environment.' Umm, wait a sec.... you can take the bear out of the forest, but you can't take the forest outta the bear.

tommyfarace - I do not belive Burrow will be availbe to the Chargers in the draft - I have them finishing at 7-9 or 8-8, and Burrow will be gone in the top 10-12 picks!

They should draft Joe Burrow from LSU. They have been talking about it......Rivers has a better chance with a different environment I feel!

Yes, great statistical career, the organization failed him!

Krupp absolutely and I wonder the same if he even wants to go else where

derrick m - A QB of his seniority in this league should be able to check down, call an audible, and make an adjustment. I think Rivers is a bit bull-headed and has a 'Favre-like' wrecklessness with the ball at times. Moving on would be best yes, but it may lead to retirement as I don't think Philip would want to play for another team.

I hear you, but, because of his career long immobility problems and inability to do anything outside the pocket, as he's aging here and his reaction times are slowing, he needs to be more accurate with his throws. An O-line can't do nothing about the defensive coverages and blitz packages, which they always run at him... and why not, he can't run for a 1st down when the pocket collapses.

Get him a ring....but not with the 'LA' Chargers.
