The Philip Rivers era of Chargers football is over!

Blaming Rivers for the chargers being a winless franchise is unfair. Most Super Bowl winning QB’s had the luxury of playing for all time coaches. His peak years were wasted by Norv, Mike McCoy, and now Lynn. And only played for an elite coach for 1 season (Marty) He’s got great stats for a reason. It’s everything around him that fails.

It’s absolutely unbelievable to me that the NFL allows this to go on. Philip Rivers has to feel shitty about this. What an embarrassment for him. Why would he keep putting his body on the line for that family? Absolutely embarrassing. I’m embarrassed for him. Hang it up or go somewhere else.

He will find a way, but I do agree that he is showing sings of his age and emotional frustration with the whole LA situatuion.  When the chargers win a "home" game he is fired up, but when they are losing you can see on his face how much he hates the Crowd and ridiculousness of the move.  Rivers always has his bad games, but he will bounce back.

i have two thoughts. Yes, they should have moved on when they moved to LA. They obviously kept him as a fan favorite for SD, but in the end, sadly, Phil will never win a ring with that organization. If the chargers were smart, they'd get a hot young QB, rebrand, and start fresh next year at Kroenke land. Otherwise I think we will see more of the same. It's sad because I used to love Phil. He's gotta be to some kind of breaking point soon. I don't even care if they win or lose, the NFL did this to themselves and it's hilarious and sad.

Not sure about plenty left, but you need everything you can get going into that new building. Do you really wanna do that with a rookie/journeyman QB? Unless you sign Kaepernick which would bring you instant headlines and relevance regardless of on field product. Of course this would take major balls by Spanos so we know how that would go

The reason he blasted Melvin Gordon was to angle for more $$$ for himself. When I saw him in training camp he was slightly more muscular & slimmer definitely training for more years in NFL. His value is reading defenses to compensate for age. He always has been a statue who never runs.

It’s everything really. He’s caught up between SD & LA Drama for one. As much as I love his passion, he can’t overcome a few deficiencies. No mobility, interceptions at the wrong time, and losing his cool in games. The “LA” Chargers are also in need of a new identity. A young QB etc

Definitely , Yes he still has some good game, but when the Chargers need a win or to come from behind, He does the same old stupid things. 95% of the time he will throw a interception when they need him to produce. Its time to plan for the future.

Rivers has been a true professional his entire career, He deserves better! He deserves to win a Superbowl with another team. Dean Spanos is the worst owner in all of sports. Period, end of story!!
