While what they did was wrong, a better punishment would be meaningful community service working and helping struggling college students. I also think it depends how deep their bribe went. Felicity Huffman paid $15k and has apologized and pled guilty. She doesn’t need to go to jail. But Elizabeth Kimmel paid $500k and is pleading not guilty. So perhaps if she’s found guilty, some jail time would be appropriate.

They hurt all the kids who worked hard for get on Soccer teams, soccer moms and damaged the average SAT scores. Legit kids had an artificially high average score to beat because people who could get High score were taking the test over and over again for rich people.

What the parents did was wrong but it has been happening in one shape or other for years.  This was exploitation allowed because the parents had money where others are exploited because of talent.  The ones who should be punished are those who took the bribes, the ones who adjusted the scores, and those who turned a blind eye when they knew something was wrong.  They should be the one's put on blast by the media because they are the one's who took an opportunity from a deserving student and profited from the $$$.
