As much as I love what he did with the minors, it's time for Fowler to be decisive and put him on notice. I'm sick of hoping to get to.500, soft management has been the team mantra for far too long. Fans are sick of waiting and Hoping. I'll back him 100% now but expecting anything other than a playoff run from an unproven rookie manager is not looking good right now.

I agree that his ass is on the line. However if the team is well above .500 and fighting for a playoff spot, I'd be willing to give him another year or two. It is a tall order to beat the dodgers in the division when they have more money than jeff bezos. The improvement at the major league level must be substantial or I will be calling for his head too

This falls within the timeline that Fowler sold the public a few years back. So yes, this has got to be his last opportunity as GM to prove that the organization can win at the major league level. The fans want something more to cheer for than the in-between innings entertainment and food at Petco.

The Padres just Charger'd all over themselves with this hire - Preller's hot seat just got a bit hotter!

Mike Krupinski

Nothing about this hire gives me the Tingles.

Dan McLellan

AJ Preller and the Padres are a comparable franchise to the Chargers. Strictly talking about being perennial losers. They simply don't know how to win. Also have proven since 2010 they are incapable of making the right hires.

Ryan Duncan

If Ron Fowler declared earlier this year, "Heads will roll," the first head should roll is A.J. Preller. Although AJ has brought in a couple pieces of nice talent, Tatis Jr and Paddack, his big free agent tickets have been, for the most part, a failure.

Keith Klipfel

No doubt, I think its simple, if the team is under 500 he'll get canned. Can only blame the coaches or the players for so long.

His ass in on the line big time...if this fails, who else will hire him and follow his failed gameplan?

it will be more fun to let this play out.
