It already is a holiday in like 14 states, but I think this should be national.

Anthony Avila

It should be offered as a choice for a day off like I get for Yom Kippur. Not another National Holiday.

Some of my African American friends have said that they are still not free and don't/ won't want that until that are completly free.

We have many national holidays, days off from work, banks closed, mail delivery doesn’t happen, the stock market goes dark, and more often than not, most of these holidays are not celebrated or even understood. Veterans Day, Memorial Day, these days remind us why we celebrate them, it would seem, now that we understand the significance of June 19th, this day should absolutely be a National Holiday, when all people can ‘celebrate’ this important day in US history.

It should but hardly anyone knows about it and what it means. No one promotes it like any other holiday or events. If that should happen the U.S should teach people what it means and have it done the right way for a real holiday.

My bad, I actually voted without knowing what it was. After reading and understanding Juneteenth is a holiday celebrating the emancipation of those who had been enslaved in the United States. I think it should be a holiday.

Why not? It’s a serious incident in history and I think would give us a good opportunity to not only reflect on the events of that day, but also the events going on today.

Yes this should be a national holiday it's ridiculous he even took this long

Philip J Muniz

Agree, it would bring a much needed increase of awareness to a very significant event in our history.

100% it should!
I feel uneducated not knowing what it was till this month. It needs to be celebrated as a National Holiday. I need to continue to educate myself and my, family and friends and neighbors

Juneteenth is an important day for sure but a lot of violence usually follow these celebrations! After a shooting at the pier in Oceanside in the late 80s ended my participation..mostly Because I was an adolescent and my mom figured risk/reward was not worth a life!😔

Yes indeed there was a time I didn’t know all the facts either.. actually just learned some stuff today about it.. also I’ve always heard of Juneteenth but didn’t know the true meaning untill 2 years ago..

Well BT, when white guys like me, are finally taught about the date and history, that’s how change gets made, educate people!!!
