because it was never their idea to take over the land. It was the development companies holding the land hostage, knowing well enough that there would never be an agreement reached to develop. They just didn’t want soccer city built because it would take away their business.

Even with the recent debacles associated with the Chargers Stadium and Soccer City initiatives, I really can't see SDSU and the City of SD not taking action to address this need for the Aztecs football program at some point here soon. The program is enduring a slow death every year they remain in the Murph. They can't generate any real revenue, can't really recruit very well, and, as a result, will continue to meander in the fossilizing MWC, instead of jumping to the Big 12 or Pac 12, where they should be with new rig.

No, not for any complicated reason other than anything the city government touches goes to s***

It will be built but not for a long long time. Probably around 2025, 26. I have no faith in them or the city.

Because I am an optimist... most in the local city government are too entrenched with the hoteliers and foreign money (not originally from San Diego). The new bloods in the local government have excellent good intentions but are forced to play the game to get little done. San Diego has many major issues to overcome before a stadium will be built... but it will get done.
