We will never know if we OVER reacted, but we will definitely know if we UNDER-react.

Anthony Idol

the lockdown seems pretty excessive considering they are causing people to lose their job and their businesses. The solution of a zero interest loan to a business that didn’t need one before makes no sense. I guess people think this is the best way to stay safe.

Dunk On Any Fool

Nope! We are not testing anyone basically. These are the measures we should take until universal testing is available

Alex Padilla

The whole point of all of these measures is to lessen the load on our healthcare system. The number of people who get the virus is going to be high - the question is will it all be at once or can we spread it out over time? I hope these measures can result in the latter because if it all happens at once, like it is in Italy, the results are tragic.

I think a little bit of both:Yes OverreactingPanic Shoppping - YepMedia causing chaos - YepShitty Press Conferences and people from Politicians who need to learn how to speak and plan. - YepSaying thing are going to last for several months instead of trying to take thinks at small more reasonable/mentally acceptable portions - YepTaking broad leaps about something that we don't have a deep understanding of and trying to oversimplifying the issue.

Derrick McQuinn

I believe that we are but we were led (or there lack of) to do so with purpose. However, I also believe (perhaps more hope) that our overreaction is for the better and in the long run help and save as many lives as possible. Honker down great friends it’s gonna be a rough run! Support each other ,Stay strong and stay safe!

I just did some scary math!U.S. added 5,722 confirmed #Covid_19 cases today to go from 13,661 to 19,333 for a greater than 41% increase.Saturday at 41%: 27, 259Sunday, 41%: 38,435Monday, 41%: 55,195Tuesday, 41%: 76,414Italy has the second-most cases: 47,021China Mainland has most: 80,967

Dan McLellan

When you have a brand new virus with no vaccine that infects and/or kills thousands, you have take extra precautions to slow the spread and buy time until a vaccine is available. The only overreacting is from people who are stockpiling TP and other supplies like the world is ending.

Logan Raab

it would make sense if the government has a 2 to 4 week plan to ha e testing ready and thousands of new respirators in place at the end of this quarantine. But I see no evidence of that. Trump ban ed travel from China to the USA 2 months ago. Good move in theory. But what had he or anyone done in that 2 month delay to get testing in place and more medical equipment? Nothing. Realistically after a few weeks people will be over this government lock down and head back out to try and make a dime and get infected at the same rate as now. This lock down sounds good on paper but if the government isn't ready from hundreds of thousands of sick people when it's over it's a total waste of time. If the government doesn't act fast epect chaos on the streets when they enforce martial law

Toby McDonald

Definitely. I don't see why they had to cancel the NCAA tournament and continue with a family-only crowd; spread them out ever six chairs...The networks would get their money because everyone's home. Captive. Same could be said for NBA.

Edwin Garcia

Absolutely not. If we kept going on with normal life the health system would be overwhelmed and people that need help wouldn’t be able to get it. Better safe than sorry.

Katz

I’m not scared of the virus, I’m scared of stupid people who don’t know how to follow directions.

Mike Hernandez

This is Governor made a ridiculous statement that Half of Ca residents could get it? What leader says that when there is enough panic and he has No statistics or real proof. What happens when there is child abuse or family court issues they can’t go to court for example. Too many scare tactics in the media and politicians. Not that many cases to shutdown a state.

Steve Vanderhei

I fear we are doing more harm than good but I understand the concerns for wanting to isolate.

Nikki Katz

With the major illnesses and loss of life and escalating growth of the virus in other countries, and how little testing we have, plus how we have one of the least amount of available hospital beds per capital of many first world countries, we need to react swiftly and dramatically to give time for our hospital system to ramp up its equipment, masks, beds, and ventilators.

The economy is being destroyed and we should set a date of March 30 to reopen businesses including restaurants and bars, attractions and more with rules in place to limit crowds. The curve will have been flattened and hospitals will have had time to prepare. I have had to furlough or layoff way too many good, hard-working hotel employees because there are no guests. It is hard to keep the doors open but we are doing it. April seems miles away. May seems like years away. This is going to go too far if we do not put a plan in place and stick to it. My two cents.

Bob Rauch

We can never be too safe when it comes to public health

Shut it down! As long as we don't have accessible testing, you can't know who has it

The Red Pimp

We do not know who has it, I would rather be safe than sorry.

Jerome Sweeney

Too many ppl are dying Italy is a fricking disaster.

Stingray

No we’re not this is global and it dosent look like it’s slowing down we should be more careful and we need to take these precautions to stay safe

Justin kaplan

Pennsylvania has been shut down for a few weeks now and neighboring states, NJ & NY have been hit really hard. I'm just pissed that our Governor shut down both the state controlled liquor stores AND private golf courses...WTF am I supposed to do with myself!!?? Truth be told, I walk on my course and play a few holes any day with decent weather anyway. But though that is a major inconvenience for my lifestyle...even IF this is an over-reaction...if it saves lives and greater number of infections...SO WHAT? We swallow this bitter pill now so the country can get back to business asap! Stay safe people...

Harry Mayes

So you think NCAA basketball players should have had access to the test before the rest of the population ?

Corona Virus! Are we over reacting?
