Vince Carter is another playing who of course has been playing in the league for now 4 different decades and has had a legendary performance with dunking. The 2000 Slam Dunk Contest that Carter of course won, was a legendary performance that upped the ante for what NBA dunking looked like. A reverse spin one handed dunk, a behind the goal dunk, a between the legs off the bounce pass dunk, and the iconic elbow dunk solidified Vince Carter as a game changing dunk master.

Although Shawn Kemp has never won one of the four Slam Dunk Contests he's been in, you can't talk about dunking without his name coming up. His size and presence not only in game but during the dunk contests have stood time as being some of the best. In the 1992 Playoffs versus Golden State, Kemp had an insane dunk off a pass from Gary Payton that is often regarded as "one of the most vicious" dunks in NBA history. Kemp was deemed "The Reignman" by a Supersonics announcer for his ability to reign over others. If that doesn't prove that he was a force to be reckoned with, I don't know what will. He wasn't a Hall of Fame player and he never won a dunk contest, but he sure had an insane career with dunking.

The year is 1988. NBA Slam Dunk Contest. Michael Jordan vs Dominique Wilkins. Arguably one of the most legendary performances between 2 competitors in the dunk contest. Jordan was the defending champion and had the homecourt advantage. Between the two, the pure skill and excitement in the Chicago Arena made for one of the most memorable dunk contests. Michael Jordan had dunks with insane run ups and a crazy demonstration of raw talent. Not to mention his game dunks were just as impressive, if not more. With his 2nd straight dunk contest win, Jordan essentially birthed that day the iconic "Air Jordan" logo everyone knows. Michael Jordan, dunking, and his infamous line of sneakers is not only synonymous with the sport of basketball, but Jordan himself has gone down in history as a "once in a generation player" and one of the most influential players to step onto the court.

To do it as well as he did for as long as he did, that’s something special. The in-game dunks too...a different breed

If we're talking "most iconic" dunker of all-time, I'd probably go with Michael Jordan. But the best dunker of all-time, I've got to go with Vince. Vince could do it in-game, pre-game or of course, in the Dunk Contest. Just look at his dunks In the 2000 dunk contest. Jordan was an all-time great dunker. Vince took that and one-upped it.
