“Will top prospects be brought up early?” -AJ Cassavell

Could Padres fans see Luis Patiño and/or MacKenzie Gore playing in the bigs this year?

YES, they’re ready - DUH!! Put them in the rotation.

No, added to the player pool to keep them engaged... but no play time.

Yes, but play will be super limited and spot bullpen work if that.

Joe Rigby

Let them compete. This is a great season to let it fly!

VERIFIED

Perfect opportunity to let them get a taste but not enough games to waste a year of control.

Darryl Sykes

Gore has seemed ready since last season, Patino I am not as sure, but yeah I mean at some point you got to try them otherwise was not point in drafting and or they'll sit in the minors untill there 28-30.

Derrick McQuinn

With a shortened season, expanded rosters, universal DH, and the fact that the Padres starting rotation, particularly spots 4 and 5, are in flux, there is obviously going to be increased emphasis on pitching this year. With the likelihood that the MiLB season will be cancelled, you gotta believe that they are going to find a way for these two to find their way into some game action at the major league level this year. I don't know if they are ready, or if there will be any injury risks, but give them the rock and let's see what they can do against major league hitters. The best that could happen, you end of up with a young Gooden, Glavine, or Pedro Martinez on your hands. The worst that could happen, they throw their arm out or suck. The Pads don't have the luxury to sit back and wait for tomorrow anymore.

Maybe keep them ready in case you have a late playoff run. Don't waste the season if they would only get a few starts/appearances.

Jason Finley

Let their play determine how much time they get

Michael Johnson

I would use those guys in middle relief early into the season They could eat up two maybe three innings as the Starting Five/Six extend their workload as this quick season progresses.

Who cares about player control five years down the line at this point when the team hasn't made the playoffs since 2006 and only 5 times in franchise history. Same argument was made prior to Tatis making the major league roster last year. Outside of his injuries last year, it was the right decision. If he bails in 5 years, then he bails. But you are probably right, GMs/Owners have a lot to think about when making these decisions, particularly with fans not being allowed to attend games and spend money. Fans want to see these dudes, even if on TV.

Where is that going to happen this year? Are they planning on playing games before the season starts? Last I heard the MiLB season is cancelled. Backfields of Petco?

Aren’t they going to have a camp in Arizona to keep them going

yes but if there is no minor league then this allows them to get some playing time and not miss a full year of playing.
