The Dodgers have had a ton of opportunity over the past 7, and have pissed it away and or gotten Astroed out of it. It seems like these things go in waves and the dodgers opportunity has to be winding down. Additionally, the dodgers pitching staff and bulpen don't impress me and to me it is whats cost them for sure the last two years. So yes I think its possible.

I think the shorter schedule and strong bullpen give Padres a puncher’s chance of upsetting the Dodgers. 
Injuries, sudden Covid cases, and pitching being dominant especially in the beginning favor unexpected results.

I'm not a big baseball fan but they really are sad. Ownership changed in like 2012 right?   What have they done since then?? They've been not quite at or under .500 every year since them. So this abbreviated season without all the real play/ playoffs gives fans hope??  That's sadder still...

Concur. The longer season favors the deeper, more talented and experienced team. In a sprint, things can happen with great consequence.
