Who's the best drummer of all time? John Bonham from Led Zeppelin, Neil Peart from Rush, or Stewart Copeland from The Police?

Neil Peart, deadly serious, known for its technical proficiency and live performances.

John Bonham, absolute master, with visionary ideas, a heavy groove, and a supreme right foot.

Copeland’s range helped the Police blend rock, punk, new wave, and reggae, with sophisticated songwriting and musicianship.

From this list, I'm going with Bonham. I would also add Terry Bozio and Tony Williams into the top of this mix as well.

He hits those things hard. There he is in those drummer-gloves, like he’s a cyclist or weightlifter – and that’s how he approaches the gig. It’s a total stamina workout. And he’s there releasing endorphins, firing through all of those great pop songs – a big part of what gives them their colour, makes them sound great, is the ideas that Copeland brings to them. He’s like a painter, using splash cymbals and roto-toms; he dips his brush into them, swats across them.

Copeland's sheer brilliance at being able to fuse together so many music genres and make is seem easy, flawless, fun, and mind bending, is why he is my all time fave drummer.

I was influenced by all three, but have to go with Sir Copeland! His creativity with the high-hats & striking presence behind the drums is a style I still try to emulate.
