“The vision for this property is for a world-class arena, park space and amenities,” the mayor said. “A new arena has always been a priority of mine, and it’s the right time.” -Mayor Kevin Faulconer

San Diegans - how excited are you about the announcement of a brand new arena in the Midway district?

It'll be pretty cool if this can connect to the proposed Grand Central Station though I am only in favor of the airport transit portion not the 10.56 gazillion dollar transit fiasco

That area is already so congested. I hope that's addressed in the planning.

Been along time coming and need it if we ever expect to pull big events including maybe a basketball, hockey, or other indoor sports team

Derrick McQuinn

Wish it was a bigger arena to attract an NHL or NBA franchise.

Need a new Arena so bad! Is it outdoor so we can go...? Lol

It’s about time, hopefully we can get a Nba team now

Bernard Thompson

Of course that assumes we could actually attract NBA and NHL teams to either expand or move here.

The rail would be awkward anyways since it wouldn’t be a natural route to the existing system

Yes, the Grand Central Station is the critical piece for a $4.7B transit plan. Located in Sports Arena, very close to airport. I say do that on a limited basis and nix some rail.

Interesting read, new central station with some type of mover to the airport just makes a lot of sense. Is any of these the 10.56 gazillion dollar transit fiasco you speak of. Sorry being in Fullerton kinda takes me out of the day by day ridiculous ideas.

No, sorry, I believe it is in CalTrans.com

Not familiar with the other project you got a link with info?

Should be, generally traffic impact is part of being able to get permits now a day
