Racist comments are being exposed, should people lose their jobs/college admission?

Gustavo

Should any black guy who has ever said something negative about a white person lose their job? Rappers are notorious for blasting white people..yet white kids are the same ones buying their albums

Jason

Yes fire these assholes for the trash that they are.. if there job is brought aware of this then they should fire their asses..

VERIFIED

Since it would be hard to prove if denied I’d say no... BUT should be warned and if anything else from that point on I’d say suspension of some sort... leading up to termination (depending on the severity) immediate termination feels a little harsh.

How about a six hour lecture each day. Then, they must write an essay. Then shave their heads. Then they must wear something distinctive. Then walk the plank. Then they must swim to an island. Then they must spell out sorry in rocks. Then maybe lose their jobs.

Posts like these are all over twitter/ People are immediately finding employer/school information and letting other people know. I'm all for people being exposed and its up to the company to see what they're going to let their employees share on social media.

companies have the right to hire/fire people that fit their brand and ideals. but to answer your questions - yes it is free speech. no they shouldn't be destroyed if it's a thing from past and they have grown/changed.

As much as I hate to vote this way, ruining someones life over an old social media post will only make things worse. They will grow more resentful and those around them will be the same way. This will only divide us further

Yesid

No that is so dumb, you should watch what you say, but just kinda crazy. Also, wouldn't this be grounds fo someone to sue over discrimination over discrimination lol.

Derrick McQuinn

Yes if the comments are over the top. Typical inappropriate jokes are probably not going to move the needle for me. The racist remark used as an example gets my blood tk boil and would get me to say NFW ( no fucking way ).

Bob Rauch

We take past posts into account when hiring people. We want to know how they would represent us.

Neil Umscheid Jr.

it’s all about the context. Everyone says stupid stuff in the past but it’s about your actions and your character that you should be judged on

David P

what about rappers who talk trash on Gaya, white people etc? Should they be banished?
