How Spring Training Records Correlate w/ Regular Season Finish

With the San Diego Padres strong spring training start (5-1), do you think their early success will transfer to a playoff run during the regular season?

No, spring training games don't matter. They still have to prove themselves in the regular season.

if you look at the Padres starting pitching during the regular season it's not very deep nor consistent. Hitting is also sporadic with most of the ppl who should be doing well instead consistently underperforming. To top it off they hired a manager with no top line experience. They will be lucky if they hit a 500 record and they have zero chance to make the playoffs.

I think spring training is an indicator how well or how poor a team might perform during the regular season, minus the major injuries of course.

The team needs to translate this early success to the regular season. We wouldn’t correlate an NFL team going to the playoffs after going 4-0 in pre-season. If the  big name guys who had down years last year don’t produce, then it’ll be another disappointing season. Come on Pads! You kaan dooo itt!

I go with a big maybe, on the whole I think its good and its healthy for confidence I also believe its just really early spring training so I'll give it a week or 2 before I make any real judgements.
