The Padres haven't won since A.J. Preller was hired in 2014. Is it time for Ron Fowler to find a new person to lead the franchise?

The Dave & Jeff Show

If this new managerial hire doesn't work out and the Pads don't show massive improvement in the win column and once again play below .500, absolutely. One thing Preller deserves credit for is stacking the farm system with talent. The challenge and problem for him has always been on the player development side of things, particularly at the major league level. I assume this is his last year to prove to Fowler and Siedler that he is capable as a major league GM and not just a good international scout and farm director. Tick tock!

Fowler himself said he needed a proven manager. We need someone that can manage egos from veterans while developing the young players. Tingler May become a great coach, however we don’t have the luxury of waiting around for a manger to develop.

Yes it is, but unfortunately this hire has bought AJ another year. Who suffers? The fans. Good for Jeff steering his kids to the Angels. I regret bringing my sons who are 20 and 19, up as Chargers fans. Unfortunately they both still cheer for that team, and now I. as a card carrying Charger Hater Club member, have to watch them suffer.

If a GM can't construct a team to get to the playoffs within the first 5 years, he should be fired.

Mike Krupinski

not THIS year but this year’s performance overall determines his future. If not a playoff team in 2020 he HAS to go.

Joe Rigby

It just seems like it, if there not sucessfull I can't see him staying much longer. At this point being on this Third Manager, you wonder if he doesn't let his manager make decisions.
