LA Chargers’ Chances of Moving Back To San Diego: Slim And None

Could Mission Valley Development Expenses Lead to SDSU West Partnership with Chargers?

Yes, a partnership makes good economic sense.

No, I don't want Dean Spanos back in San Diego.

It's begging to happen!! Chargers say they got kicked out?? Really? Spanos set up that last vote in 2016 to fail! Spanos would have to sell the club and new perspectives would need to infuse the conversation to start up talks again. But a partnership should happen.

It’s never gonna happen, move on. I’d rather have them move elsewhere and rebrand. Support what we have here and we’ll be fine.

It makes good sense, my concern just like other is I don't think this happens unless spanos sells/forced to sell. Also, just a general note from a construction perspective finding fill dirt (import) would be less of a problem then exporting contaminated dirt. Majority of new sites need to export so its rare to see project with heavy import needs. That being said the cost to export soils has become ridiculously expensive because there just are a whole lot of place needing or wanting it anymore. For clean export I've seen costs between $40/CY to 100/CY depending where you are. Contaminated dirt might be even crazier. That being said because of this that makes being able to get rid of dirt for a minimal cost like for the potential site a good deal for most as your saving a huge amount of money not having to find a site.. You may be able to get the fill dirt for a very minimal cost (most likely just cost to confirm/test that the dirt coming isn't dirty). Also, in regards to using the Stadiums Rubble, I also wonder how reasonable that is, if the dirt below is contaminated and therefore has to be remove/remdiated you wouldn't be able to bury the stadium below. The other issue I could see is that it would have to be burried deep enough that bigger pieces were not in the way of any undergroud utilities/structures that they have to build. To me it sounds like they'd have to get rid of alot of the stadium instead of burying.

Wow! I almost forgot this was a question lol. This would be ideal except for the Spanos factor, when Maas said "WE" I'm pretty sure he's actually acknowledging that they pretty much scorched the earth on their way out and they know SD will never welcome "Them" back, not the team, the cast of shady characters. So I agree that this would help clear a lot of the logistics issues about the how to. The very first thing that needs to be taken care of is that the team gets new ownership. Then SD is really in play.

of course it makes sense but it will never happen because Dean has made it clear that he is in La for ever again to stay he thinks it will take him 10 years to build up a fanbase he is not going anywhere unfortunately

Never say never....examples: Raiders moving back to Oakland in 1995, and Rams moving back to LA 2016. It happens. Give it time.
