Would 49's have won Super Bowl with Tom Brady under center last year?

Erik J Nelson

As good as Brady is in the clutch, sometimes a team just runs into a red hot team that CANNOT lose. That’s what happen with the Niners running into Mahomes and the Chiefs. Even though I think the 49ers are the better overall team, I think no matter who was QB Mahomes would’ve found a way to win. Brady couldn’t get it done twice against Eli, so what makes you think an over the hill Brady can beat Mahomes? Am I crazy or do you guys agree?

Yes!!! Jimmy G now has a resume that says, in his first full season as a starter, he was on a Super Bowl team, and if not for a missed deep ball, the 9ers win it all.The difference is, Jimmy G DID NOT lead the 9ers to the Super Bowl, and when he had the chance to be clutch, he didn’t get it done. The 49ers have a legit sell to Brady, come home, and get your last SB title for your hometown team!

I think so they had late in the game chances and caved under pressure. Brady doesn't thrives in those situations.

Brady deserves all the accolades, hell of a career, likely will be considered, perhaps alongside Montana, as the best to ever lace them up at the position. He is a winner, no doubt. But he is 42 years old, one sack away from retirement, and only played for one organization and one head coach his entire career. Sure Peyton went to Denver and won it, but also remember how it turned out for Montana in KC and Farve in Minny. I am not saying that Brady can't once again roll snake eyes again and lead the Niners to a SB victory, but I don't see him as a tremendous upgrade in the near term and definitely not a long term play for them. They are a young team with a young and more than capable QB who just led them to the SB. So unless Garapalo was ok with serving as Tom's backup again, it would be lame if they made this move and did Garrapolo like that. This is the NFL though, so we should expect it to happen.

I don’t believe he was unbeatable, but the X factor is always injuries. If you pick up the missing piece, who’s to say three more pieces go down three weeks into the season. Stay the course...

Having Tom Brady under center would’ve made that the most complete 49ers team since the one that trashed all over the Chargers. Yes, 100% would’ve been a different result.

Every time the niners asked Jimmy to make a play, he didn’t. Mahomes was terrible for 3 quarters. He was not unbeatable

I think with the people who would have been around him. He might have been able too, at this point of his career needs the support. Niners definitely had the keys to make him successful. How I see it he could have done worse then Garopollo

Pretty much, but wierder shit has happened (see LeBron in Cleveland a few years back)...if anyone can pull it off, Lynch can.

Jimmy G goes back to the bench. While Tom teaches him yet again, how to be clutch, to them leave with another Super Bowl title and the team in Jimmy G's hands! Sound like a fairy tale?

That would be an amazing story for sure, Scott. So what happens to Jimmy G, trade him out if malcontent or does he move to backup if he consents? Past relations have to come into play here, no?

You said the Niners were a better overall team, which is true, till the quarterback! Tom Brady is the difference in that game! TB makes the plays to close that game that Jimmy couldn't! Niners are Tom Brady away from ring.

Katzy, you mention Tom being defeated by Eli twice, he has also won SIX, that's SIX, Super Bowls! Tom is still going, Eli is retired and was done 5 years ago! For one year, right now, who would you rather have as your QB, Brady or Jimmy G?
