COVID-19 What's really going on?  Hospitals aren't crowded.

Over reaction, not as many people are sick with Corona as forecasted

People are scarred to go to the hospitals

More virtual Dr. visits causing less traffic at the hospitals

My wife was is a nurse at the big Kaiser in SD. We have 2 friends that are ER doctors that tell us there was a massive overreaction and they have seen very little Covid19 cases at all (they are at Scripps and UCSD). Beyond that people are scared to venture out because of sensationalized media stories and people eating it up on social media. There seems to be no critical thinking on this.

As a health care worker. The ER is telling Patients to call in to there doctors, and if don't need to come in then they should stay at home. The Hospital I am at is full of covid patients.the entire icu is full that is about 36 beds plus they opened up another floor to have the patients start to go their. For some reason they are not letting the info out. Even my manager says their is not allot of patients. But if I go up stairs to the units the charge nurse will say different. I think they don't want to scare people and the employees here. but ive seen them with my own eyes.

I think the biggest impact is shelter in place and less “emergencies” due to being home and less active. I think it’s a combination of everything listed and the reluctance to go in for non-emergencies is real...Dr’s have even recommended to wait until things blow over.

I’m half Filipino, reason I say that is I have a ton of aunties and cousins who are nurses. When I reached out to them asking how they are, all of them said fine, business as usual, nothing crazy. I was shocked like what do you mean, all of them said their hospitals are not even crowded at all and are working their regular shifts/hours. Now this may hold true here in San Diego, unlike some of the heavy hot spots but for real what the hell is going on?!

I feel its a bit of More Virtual Dr. Visits and overreaction. Definitely feel it was an overreaction thought I do get the concern and reasoning,  however this overreaction could cause more pain in the future as the overreaction makes it hard for people to trust that what there being told is true, especially the next time something comes up.As far as the less crowds, this proves that 3/4 of the shit that comes in is bullshit, hypochondriac, or people with colds/non necessary doctors visits that could be handled by a phone/video call. Frankly I hope this part continues after everything calms down. Would actually make it reasonable to have a real appt with your doctor for important stuff.

Ya I've heard the same. Additionally about a lot of medical personel whos hours have been cut due the decline

The Virutal Dr Visits have really streamlined the process and keeping the people who go for everything away.

I'm 85% Filipino and my Aunties and cousins are nurses too.  They said the same as yours.  As I said I witnessed this personally.
