Who was the best GM in San Diego Chargers history

Eric

Bobby did a great job building a winner from the ashes of the Air Coryell and Fouts era. His only fault was for the way he dealt with Bobby Ross in the end, but that was probably another Spanos decision. I have John Butler in second place over AJ. He was the one who drafted LT and Brees and brought in Schottenheimer to coach. AJ was the one who lived off the momentum and messed it all up after he died.

AJ Smith has my vote for this.
He did a pretty good job while he was here.

Bernard Thompson

Bethard for sure, AJ Smith did okay sometimes on the other hand hes the one that allowed Sproles, Turner, Tomlinson, Vincent Jackson, and others get away.

Derrick McQuinn

I grew up during the AJ Smith glory years of 04-10 ish, but I have to give the nod to Beathard, since his team is the only one to make it to the superbowl. Either way, #spanossucks

JD DeOcampo

By Best I mean he had the Best chance to win a Super Bowl

Albert Long

Only GM to take the Chargers to a SuperBowl... need I say more.

Isaac Ramirez

Bobby B was the best because he had some of the best teams. Only team to go to Super Bowl was his. He was not the best on the Draft but it all worked out.

Jason Finley

Don't forget about Sporles, Michael Turner, and Vincent Jackson.

Would Marty have brought a championship here? I am leaning towards yes...

Pretty good = Firing Marty and replacing him with Norv, letting Brees and LT walk. AJ was ok in the draft and in building a roster around Rivers, but they under-performed and he couldn never get out from his ego when it mattered... Spanos enabled it.
