Rocky Long has done and won everything he can at SDSU. It’s time for the school to move on...

I love everything Rocky has done for the program. It’s been an incredible success. Build the man a statue. But I think it’s time for the program to aim for more than just winning the Mountain West. Dream bigger and be bigger!

I've sat through far too many 3-6 win seasons in the 90's and 2000's to think that having Long move on from this program is a good thing for anyone. For anyone that says that this program should be striving for more, they're delusional. We don't play in a P5 conference and outside of running the table one year (which is EXTREMELY unlikely to happen once, much less consistently year after year), what "more" should we have in mind? If not Rocky, who? Who is going to take us to the magical promise land? How much better than Rocky will they be? How many more wins will they get us? Let the man coach here until he wants to retire (the Steve Fisher treatment) OR until he really gives us a reason to go a different direction. Don't mess with a winner/winning program.

I think so too. Remember back in the day Don Coryell did the same thing and ended up with success in the NFL with St Louis and San Diego. So moving on for Rocky seems logical.

I think so, he lasted there longer here then most coaches, but like all ocaches in the long term stuff just gets stale. If they have a beat on another coach that could take them to the next level I'm for it. Now that being said I am not for going back to the late 90's and 2000's of sucking.

From the reporting out yesterday, it sounds like Rocky wants to move on. It's too bad, for a school that plays in a dump (both stadium and conference), they have been extremely lucky to have such a quality coach lead this program to bowls and wins the likes it hasn't seen since the days of Coryell. From this question, I get the sense that you think the Aztecs can do better with a new coach? I don't buy it, until they get into their new digs, are able to recruit better, and find a way in a Power 5 conference, it won't matter who their coach is. They will continue to meander along as they have been the past decade if they are lucky and the fans will begin to remember what Aztec football used to look like during the 1980s to 2000s (30 years of ineptitude, outside of Faulk years).

He can only take the Aztecs as far as the NCAA/Media Hype allows it. He is in a conference that doesn't get any respect. We have a great coach, don't mess with a winner or winning program. He is the right person for the Aztecs. The NCAA/Media is only interested in powerhouse programs, remember we are in the West Coast.

Remember when fans were calling for Al Luginbill to be fired? Remember when fans called for Ted Tollner to be fired? That led to Tom Craft and Chuck Long.Let's not forget the past. Let's have some perspective about how fortunate we are to root for a Rocky Long led team. And, it was just last year that fans were questioning Brian Ditcher.I'm tired of "The Grass is Greeners". Let's appreciate what we have, and let's keep winning.

I would agree, except my next question would be, who do you replace him with? You might be able to find a young up and comer, but you also risk setting everything back. If you can find a name guy who brings credibility and recruits I say go for it. Of course, him leaving on his own would leave them no choice and all of this wouldn’t even matter.
