Yes frankly anyone could this season, they definitely have the pitching, but they got to hit.

Good timing to have a short year. If Padres stay healthy they have just enough depth to win in a 60 game season.

Maybe, it would be nice, but their offense is really going to have to improve this year.  I just don't see this roster, with really only Tatis, Jr. and Machado, overcoming the Petco home team offense curse! Maybe the DH will break it. Their SP is also a wait and see kind of thing. I don't know, I'm not very optimistic. They should have traded away Myers and kept Framile and Cordero. Chemistry matters.

I think they make it. East will beat up on each other. Central isn't that strong so the Padres can take one of the wild card spots

Prove it. Fernando Tatis says the Padres are going for the cake, going out to win a World Series, I love this kids enthusiasm, maybe he can spark the Padres the way a young LT sparked the Chargers?

They would have been close to a Wild Card spot under the original format. This way, at least more teams will have a chance to make it, including the Padres.

Can they, yes because 500 or maybe even a little less can get you in. That being said even if you get in this year if you go less than .500 next year heads should roll

Absolutely. They're on the verge of breaking out and this is the year to make it happen. Minimal chances for injuries and fuck ups

At least the games will have even more meaning now that there are more teams in the mix for a playoff spot.

I 100% agree with trading meyers and keeping Reyes, especially not with the DH, it really looks like a Short Sighted move. As far as Cordero I think they really gave him quite a few opportunities to break in with the team and he just couldn't stay healthy, at certain point its just time to move on/or give a guy an opportunity or change of venue. I think in Cordero's case he got more chance then alot of players have.
