With the exception of perhaps the Teachers Labor Union, there is simply nothing stronger than the Baseball Players Union.  They may give a little, but they will not give a lot.  With lower pay and the threat of the virus remaining, I suspect the players will simply wait until next year, something the Padres excel at!

Any sports is good sports right now, and lock down or not, I'm not really a fan of 162 games anyways.   82 game kind gets rid of the fluff and most games matter after the all star break anyways so I would actually be excited this way..

I think it’s a good proposal but I don’t think players want to risk there health as much as they want to play they probably would want to be safe.

It makes no sense to hold out -- the 50% deal is fair, they've said they want to play ball, I think they will do it. Fans are waiting!

Star / top paid players will have issues. But I think the majority of players will want to play as much as they can and get whatever money they can. Plus this shortened season with DH sounds exciting.

This is not an endorsement of it, but I think yes. The majority of players want to play. The same as the majority of Americans want to work. It doesn't mean that it is safe, but given the option, the majority will approve.

Decisions and plans like these reflect the really tough spot that professional sports leagues are in. There are going to be tremendous revenue losses that will eventually come into play here if no vaccine can be found and fans aren't allowed to attend games for an extended period of time. For the players, many of whom come from humble beginnings, probably will be willing to take on these risks and play. There isn't an alternative for many.

Players gonna play cause they wanna get paid. Not everyone making 30 mil a yr. and a lot from family’s that don’t have any money. So for all the merchados who’ll vote no there are 10 player like heck yeah we gotta eat like the rest of us.

I believe the majority of players will be good with it and it will happen. Especially how free agency has been the last couple of years which has hurt more experience players for younger players will definitely push. Those more experience players will not want to lose out on more playing time. 

To me its really on the highest paid players that are avoiding it.

Though the thing that could hurt the possibility is if the owners look for more cutback of pay.

At the end of the day I do think the players will come to an agreement with MLB because they players want to get paid and play. The longer they hold out the less pay they will get and the more the general public will get angry with the players. The sooner baseball starts the sooner these players will get paid.
