Are you excited or let down by the final season of Game of Thrones?

100% agree. As I read somewhere else, foreshadowing is not the same as character development. Yes, there were clues that Dany could become the Mad Queen, but because of this season's pacing issues, it didn't feel right in the moment. That has been the main problem these past two seasons.

Even though there have been plenty of things I don't agree with, it is bringing the series to a close in a very effective way. It gave us an amazing battle of Winterfell and, for all the character questions, a beautifully done Battle of King's Landing. It brought alot of characters full circle and did provide us some amazing fan service (Arya, Gendry, CleganeBowl). There is no question it's all being tied up and that there have been some truly amazing television scenes performed even if you disagree with the character changes.

I'm now resigned to the fact that the show I loved and followed so closely has turned into something...different. Not bad, but different. Benioff and Weiss are ready to move on to Star Wars, and I think their desire to bring home Game of Thrones in (basically 7) seasons instead of the 10+ it could have naturally run, has led to a lot of corners being cut, and a number of really questionable story choices. It bums me out that one of the most important characters, Tyrion, has become little more than an audience avatar and font of bad advice. It bums me out that the biggest heel turn in the series' history (Dany torching Kings Landing) felt unearned. I'm not sure history will be kind to Benioff and Weiss for the past two seasons.

It’s only a let down because it was in conversation for greatest show ever (which is not). People expected too much out of it. But for the most part yes it is disappointing.

The special effects have been amazing, especially Episode 5, and I already anticipated the storytelling being hastened. I think it sets up nicely.

Its changed from the characters driving the story to the story driving the characters. In that they have to wrap things up and get to point B so to do that the character must do x. Up to this season it felt more like what the character did is where the story went.

I am hoping the final episode just destroys, greatest finale ever, i would say Breaking Bad.
